The Park and Recreation Commission serves the recreational needs of Alexandria Township, New Jersey.

We are responsible for organizing and caring for the Township's recreation programs as well as the Township Park.

Big Happenings at the Park:
Halloween Trunk or Treat moved to Sunday, 10/26 3pm to 5:30pm due to impending 'gully-washer'!
The Walking Trail is completed!  Now the full perimeter of the park can be walked...a total of approximately 1.1 miles.  (Some helpful soul measured it at exactly 5,870 feet...which works out to 1.111742424 miles)

October 14th--we held the ribbon cutting for the new basketball courts!  Two full-sized courts, plus two practice baskets.  We'll be putting signs up that say "basketball only".  Please don't think we're trying to take away someone's fun, but the warranty on the playing surface is voided if we allow bikes, skateboards, roller blades or street hockey on the surface.
Community Day 2008 (9/27) was a huge success.  Thanks to all the volunteers and organizations that made it happen.  Next year's Community Day will be on June (that's right, June) 13, 2009.  Save the date!
Some of the recreation programs and events we support:
Soccer, Fishing Derby, Basketball, Summer Recreation, Fitness Classes, Field Hockey, Adult Basketball, Adult Volleyball, Community Day, and Summer Concerts in the Park

The Park is located at 242 Little York-Mount Pleasant Road and consists of about 90 acres; approximately half is open space.  We have two baseball/softball diamonds, four full-sized soccer/lacrosse fields, a wonderful playground called "Kidtopia", and walking trails (asphalt/gravel paths of ~1.1 miles; another mile of grass/mulch paths).  In October 2008, we added two full-sized basketball courts.  We have an equestrian facility with an indoor and outdoor riding arena, as well as a dressage ring.  We recently had a 9-hole disc golf course donated.  Future plans include a pavilion, more parking, and a third baseball diamond.
In the spring 2008 we conducted a survey of the Township to determine how our facilities and programs are serving the Township; results can be seen in the attached PowerPoint Show (click on the above link).  Thanks to everyone for participating.
